From iPod to Social Music

11 marzo, 2007 por Midori

After losing my iPod to some evil and criminal hands, and even though I had most of my music backed up in CD -yep, I’m not a happy owner of a DVD-RW drive yet- I wanted a faster alternative to reviewing all the contents of my music collection.

That’s why I turned to Last.fm. I had used it before, so I knew how everything worked.

I was so happy to find out my profile was still there. So all the music I had scrobbled before was on my track list. All I had to do was listen. :)

But it doesn’t end there. Before I thought of it as a music resource, but then I started getting interested in what the site was all about: social music. I got in touch with people that had similar music taste to mine, and made some friends.

I tried Pandora too… but I wasn’t very comfortable with the system. And besides, it kept picking artists for me, completely unknown. :-P That was it.

So if you want to know, I’m sticking to Last.fm for the time being…

As a matter of fact I’m quite fond to Pandora, I’ve discovered a couple of bands through it. I grant that it plays some music I’m not too fond of, but in general I use it to try and discover new stuff.

Yes, you’re right about that. It does explores a great variety of music!
