Any openings at Google?

Bored on friday night -gee, how can anyone be bored on a friday night!- I rented this movie…

Dreamgirls

Dreamgirls Poster

I really wanted to see what was it about, since it’s won 2 Oscars. In my opinion, it’s a mixture of a musical and drama, but not the kind of drama that produces tears. A lot of the dialogs between the characters are songs, so if you don’t like musicals, I don’t recommend it. The voices are great though! ;-)

Taking advantage of my free time, I also watched Episode 22 of Heroes, a TV show I started watching not so long ago, thanks to a couple of work mates, Joe and Pablo.

Heroes

It’s the story about ordinary people, that discovers they have supernatural powers. Everything develops around their abilities, how they deal with “being different” and how soon they discover they’re not alone.
Watch it! If you missed any episodes, you can see them on NBC’s site.

Now, I suppose this guy below must’ve become the most despised man in the world!!

New Stuff: WordPress 2.2

16 mayo, 2007

The new version of WP was released today. Here’s a list of the new features published in WordPress’s blog:

  • WordPress Widgets allow you to easily rearrange and customize areas of your weblog (usually sidebars) with drag-and-drop simplicity. This functionality was originally available as a plugin Widgets are now included by default in the core code, significantly cleaned up, and enabled for the default themes.
  • Full Atom support, including updating our Atom feeds to use the 1.0 standard spec and including an implementation of the Atom Publishing API to complement our XML-RPC interface.
  • A new Blogger importer that is able to handle the latest version of Google’s Blogger product and seamlessly import posts and comments without any user interaction beyond entering your login.
  • Infinite comment stream, meaning that on your Edit Comments page when you delete or spam a comment using the AJAX links under each comment it will bring in another comment in the background so you always have 20 items on the page. (I know it sounds geeky, but try it!)
  • We now protect you from activating a plugin or editing a file that will break your blog.
  • Core plugin and filter speed optimizations should make everything feel a bit more snappy and lighter on your server.
  • We’ve added a hook for WYSIWYG support in a future version of Safari.

I can only say that I do look forward to upgrading soon to this new version and try the goodies, but I think I’ll wait a while, because I use a lot of widgets that might not be supported yet  :(
