Harry Potter 7 is out!

22 julio, 2007

So yeah, finally after so much wait the book was released. :)

I remember when the first book was out. I wasn’t much of a fan back then, I thought it was a book for children, young adults maybe, so I prefered other novels to read.

Then as usual, curiosity beat predjudices and I bought a copy of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. What can I say: it blew me away. I couldn’t put it down. I found myself taking the book everywhere, until I finished it. And then the rest of the books of the series passed in front of my eyes just as quickly as the first.

I even got my sisters to read it !

Anyway, everyone’s expecting to find out who’s dying in J.K. Rowling’s last Harry Potter. Last week, I was able to download a PDF file that was supposed to be a leaked copy of HP7. I have no basis for comparison -I don’t have my book yet!- so I can’t tell the difference. But I did manage to keep my eyes away from the last pages. ;) Just in case.

I’m not planning to read it right now. I have a pretty extensive queue of books at home, waiting! Besides, as many of HP’s readers, I’d have to read all 6 books again to refresh my memory, although I have a general idea of the plot.

So, no spoilers please!!!

Snowy Buenos Aires

9 julio, 2007

For the first time in 89 years, a polar air wave has brought snow to Buenos Aires.

Snow in BA

For someone like me, that never experienced snowy weather, it was a novelty.

I didn’t wake up really early in the morning, and have no windows looking out the street, so by the time I found out of the weather conditions, it was already noon.

Collective Joy

It was interesting to see the day evolve in to this historic event -as Clarin.com calls it- to see people out on the street despite the cold sub-zero temperatures.
In almost every public channel on TV the news were the snow fall, and how the citizens celebrated this extraordinary phenomena.

Crowd at the Obelisco

Interviews to porteños and tourists at the Obelisco were everywhere.

It’s too bad I didn’t get to take pictures of this memorable day. Although I have a pretty good cell phone camera, it didn’t capture the snowflakes. :(

Oh, by the way… Happy Independence Day!

Ouch..!
