Estoy tomando clases de Shodō con mi profe de japonés. Desde que mi abuelo me hizo practicar hiragana y katakana sobre papel de diario cuando me empezó a enseñar japonés, me gustó. Ahora tengo la oportunidad de volver a hacerlo y aprender como se debe!

Qué es el Shodō?

El Shodō (書道, “el camino de la escritura”) es la caligrafía japonesa.

Se considera un arte y una disciplina muy difícil de perfeccionar y se enseña como una materia más a los niños japoneses durante su educación primaria.

Proviene de la caligrafía China, y se practica a la usanza milenaria, con un pincel, un tintero donde se prepara la tinta china, pisapapeles y un pliego de papel de arroz. Actualmente también es posible usar un fudepen, pincel portátil con depósito de tinta.

El shodō practica la escritura de caracteres japoneses hiragana y katakana, así como caracteres kanji derivados de la escritura china. Actualmente existen calígrafos maestros en este arte que son contratados para la redacción de documentos importantes.

Además de requerir una gran precisión y gracia por parte del calígrafo, cada carácter kanji debe ser escrito según un orden de trazo específico, lo que aumenta la disciplina requerida a quienes practican este arte.

Ayer en la clase de Japonés mi profesora compartió con nosotros unas porciones de torta de estilo japonés.

Estaban riquísimas!
A mi me tocó una torta de Matcha, nunca había probado este tipo de torta.

En cualquier momento le pido una entera!

Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865). Amaterasu Emerges from the Light.

Amaterasu is the Sun Goddess in Japanese Myth. One day she became angered by the teasing of her brother, Susanowo, the God of Thunder. She went into a cave and vowed never to come out.

While in the cave, the world was in complete darkness. Other Gods pleaded with her to come out and brought magicians and others to roll back the stone she was using to block the entrance, but nothing would make her come out.

If the Goddess of the Sun kept her light hidden, everything on earth would die. Uzume decided to lure Ameratsu from the cave.

Uzume opened a barrel of sake and turned it upside down and began to play and beat upon it. Everyone began to laugh and rejoice as she danced and played on the barrel.

Filled with curiosity, Amaterasu came close to the entrance and rolled away the stone so that she could join the others in the festivities.

Thus sunlight returned to the world and it has been handed down that the drum made by Uzume was the first taiko in the world.
